University of Lisbon

Although officially founded in 2013, the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) has academic roots dating back to the 13th century, making it one of the most historically significant institutions in Portugal. As a result of the merger between the University of Lisbon and the Technical University of Lisbon, ULisboa has grown into a leading European research university. In 2017, it was ranked the top university in Portugal by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking), and the same year, Times Higher Education recognized it as the country’s largest university.
